Simon and Jamie


Jamie Alan Nicklin - Company Director
Jamie was born at an early age and started as a magician at the age of five. He performed his first stage show at the age of eight before turning professional at the age of sixteen.
Since this time Jamie has performed worldwide on major TV shows and in theatres including the London Palladium.

He has also designed illusions and stage FX for many top stars in the music and entertainment industry from making the new Mercedes M class appear from thin air at the UK launch or supplying 88 custom built illusions in one order, the biggest order of its type ever! Or vanishing and reproducing a $250,000 Robinson R22 helicopter live on the stage of the RMS Queen Mary 2 during her maiden voyage.

Jamie is also the creator and director of Houdini the Musical.

Simon’s professional experience has included every area of the entertainment industry. He has directed, and as a performer has sung and acted in, many shows, musicals and plays around the UK and in London’s West End. He has also had numerous appearances on TV and radio including hosting his own network TV show!

He has appeared as one of the highest rated guest entertainers on many five star cruise ships all around the world which is where in the summer of 1999 he first met Jamie.
As a writer and lyricist Simon has enjoyed much success including “Houdini the Musical”.

An accomplished and versatile pianist and arranger, Simon has musically directed and orchestrated many scores for a wide range of productions, from tried and tested favourites such as “Blood Brothers”, “The Wizard of Oz”, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and “West Side Story”, to those with an original concept; “Patsy Cline – A Musical Tribute”, “She Knows You Know”, “Stand By Your Man” and a whole repertoire of pantomimes! Escapades abroad include an extensive German tour of “Oklahoma!” and “Elvis the Legend” in Sweden with an American cast and a mixed Swedish/English orchestra!

Over the years, in musicals, concerts and cabaret, Simon has had the pleasure of working with some of our most celebrated television and variety artists; including such favourites as Larry Grayson, Jimmy Tarbuck, Barbara Windsor, Ruth Madoc, Max Bygraves, Tommy Cooper, Les Dennis, Paul Shane, Gorden Kaye, Kate O’Mara, Jim Bowen, Ray Alan and Brian Blessed, to name but a few!

The through-composed and restless score for "Houdini" is the result of many tiring but enjoyable months of planning and intense collaboration with Simon Leigh.
